This case study is about a leading Bio-Technology company with a global presence. Over the past few years, the company has rapidly expanded and established itself as a premier biotech service globally.
The Challenges
The company had been using an in-house developed Active Directory Structure to manage its users daily. However, this process had multiple drawbacks. The smooth management of users was getting increasingly complex.
The company also had a problem managing its provisioning facilities. They were unable to handle orders immediately when they received a request. Access to the company’s system was manual making the whole process time-consuming and inefficient. It also made business operations irregular. They had to deal with frequent glitches which stalled the day-to-day operations and obstructed progress.
The Objective
The company urgently needed a completely self-sufficient Active Directories structure within each department capable of operating independently regardless of the availability of business network services. It wanted to standardize and automate its management mechanism with a separate Active Directory (AD) per site to support authentication, authorization, and directory services.
The company also wanted a solution for provisioning on the Active Directory in real time. For the long term, the company was looking for self-service administrative IT features that allowed employees the ability to self-register, login, and request access.
Our Solution
We had a detailed discussion with the company’s management and proposed a solution to address the challenges the company was facing.
A decision was taken to implement our Active Directory system in a few departments on a test basis. It was estimated that the solution can be implemented in every department quickly, once we were able to measure the positive outcome. When the solution was deployed on-premise, it enabled them to work smoothly even when there was a disruption in the business network.
